CWYW 16: When I insert citations into my document, they go away immediately, but the reference list is generated at the end of the document. What happened to my citations, and how can I get them back?

Answer: Most likely, you are currently using an output style that doesn't include a citation definition, such as the "Show All" output style or the "Chicago 15th A" output style. To fix this, simply format the bibliography using a different output style. To do so:
  1. Word 2007: Go to the EndNote Web tab.

Word X/2000/XP/2003/2004: Go to the "Tools" Menu and choose "EndNote Web > Format Bibliography."

  2. Here, select the output style you'd like to use in the output style dropdown menu. A generic output style you can use for this purpose is the "Author/Date" style.

  3. In Word 2007, click the "Update Citations in the Bibliography". In Word X/2000/XP/2003/2004 click the OK button to format the document using your selected style.
